Blog 8 : The Future (unoriginal but its 7am)

I feel that in the future kids will know longer have to leave their homes to go to college. Computers will be able to be a whole room, four walls for monitors (three walls that do not have a door and the ceiling). We will be able to join a classroom and seem like we are actually their due to the 3-D of the room. This will allow us to still interact with other students and see them, but from the comfort of almost any location. This would also let professors be more efficient, being able to teach from anywhere and almost at anytime. This would also give them more time for personal interaction such as office hours or more time for their personal research. With this technology in place campuses would be virtual, they could even go as far as a virtual quad where students could promote things and discuss topics. Since the campus would take nothing to maintain tuition costs would be cut in half. I believe the future most things will be done from home things like schooling or working out. The one things I cannot see ever going fully online is social activities. Some people find social networking fulfilling and healthy, but I need to talk to a person face to face to get any real enjoyment out of the discussion. Technology is already well on its way to the 3-D realm, they have just released the technology to display a computer on your wrists that has touch capabilities. In fact the military already has a lot of technology a few years ahead of mainstream society, but prototypes are not deemed safe or necessary for citizens. The future is all about how can we make ourselves less real, ten years ago people would never have thought about blogging being a assignment for a class. Thirty years from now they will not even realize how far we have come. Soon our worlds will be run from technology and everything will be done with a few waves of our hands. Reality is only what we choose to accept. I think the future will decide how much technology rules our lives, but from what I have seen the students of tomorrow will not have to go far for a education. All areas of the subject are grey, technology does not choose sides it is always up to the user.

  1. I like the way you think. Just get out of bed and turn on computer in order to have class.

  2. This is very true, computers and technology probably will take over our lives. Probably even within the next 5 years' outlook. This would make it much more convenient for students to learn, there may be some pros and cons to it but overall seems like a very good idea. I cannot wait for the day that happens to happen already.
